Miss Shirley started working at UHM prior to purchasing UHM around 1989. Over the years, Miss Shirley has developed and built UHM into one of the premier and most respected Montessori education preschools in the Menlo Park area.
Miss Shirley graduated from Butler University where she earned a BS degree in Biology. She also received her Illinois State Teaching Certification for K to 8th grade in 1971.
In addition to being the Owner and Director, Miss Shirley is still very active as a teacher in the classroom helping to instill the Montessori philosophy and approach to learning amongst her teaching staff. Miss Shirley has been teaching for over 31 years and she says "I have found my niche in life, and that is working with children, the one thing I love more than anything else after my family. I love the free spirit of the child."
Miss Shirley is also a member of the Bay Area Montessori Association, she has her ECE (Early Childhood Education) and Administrative units and she speaks French fluently.Read More

Miss Ayhan was born and raised in Turkey. She came to the United States where she earned her BA and Master's degree in Graphic Design and a AA degree in Computer Graphics.
After Miss Ayhan's youngest son left for college, she realized how much she missed having children as a part of her life and it was at this time she decided to dedicate herself to becoming a teacher. Miss Ayhan went back to school and received her AMI Montessori Teaching Credential for children between the ages of 3 to 6. She also has her AA Degree in Child Development.
The 2014-15 school year will be Miss Ayhan's eighth year as a teacher. She has multiple years of experience working within a Montessori preschool environment.
"I care deeply for children and I am passionate about supporting their development", says Miss Ayhan. "Children learn by observing the adults around them, and I believe that being a role model plays a major part in teaching. Miss JoAnne attended college at the University of California, Berkeley, where she received a BA degree. Miss Jo Anne also has a AMS Diploma, CA Elementary Credential, and a Masters of Education from the College of Notre Dame in Belmont, CA.
Miss Jo Anne has been teaching Montessori education since 1973. She has been a resident of Menlo Park for over 35 years and she has two children.

Miss Juana was born and raised in Peru. She was first introduced to the Montessori Method in 1995 and instantly she fell in love with it and has been applying it in the classroom ever since.
Miss Juana became a certified Montessori teacher in 1999 for children between the ages of 3 to 6 year olds and in 2004 she became certified to work with infants to 2 year olds. Miss Juana also has her ECE certificate from Canada College.

Miss Linda, our art teacher, was born in San Francisco. She started painting as a three year - old in an art class at the De Young Museum while her mother was engaged in an adult oil painting class there. She graduated from San Francisco State University in Children's Theatre.
She received her Association Montessori International Certificate in Los Angeles and has taught in Montessori schools for over 30 years. She has taught Art Classes to students from K-5th grade in the Santa Clara School District for five years and currently she teaches art at Montessori schools on the peninsula.
She also runs an adult Open Studio in Redwood City, where she paints in acrylic and does collage card.Read More

Miss Maria was born in Lima, Peru and is the second of seven siblings. She attended grade school and college in her home country and has three children.
Miss Maria has worked in the educational profession for eleven years. She came to the United States in 1998 and decided to take child development classes to further expand her knowledge within the education profession.

Miss Saeideh was born in Iran and she speaks both Persian and English. She received a degree in Trading Management from the University of Tehran.
Shortly after earning her degree from Tehran she developed an interest in education and working with children. She then moved to Malaysia and studied International Montessori where she received a degree from MCI (from the UK) in Malaysia.
Miss Saeideh completed her studies in 2014 which included 420 hours of working as an intern in the teaching profession.Read More

Miss Sana was born and raised in the Philippines and she came to the United States for college. She attended The University of The Pacific and afterwards she attended The London Montessori Center earning her Montessori teaching diploma. She has been teaching for 15 years and this will be her 8th year at UHMCC.
Miss Sana truly enjoys being with children and watching them actively learn the Montessori curriculum and philosophy. One of the many activities she enjoys doing with children is singing, art, practical life, language skills, reading, music and math.

Miss Sharayu has a BA degree in Education, has completed 31 Early Childhood units from De Anza College and she has a Masters Degree in Sanskrit from India. She also has earned her A.M.S. Montessori teaching certificate.
Miss Sharayu lives in the area with her husbnd and two sons.

The “Hot Shots Sports Program” is led by Mr. Dave Clapper who brings over 20 years of experience in teaching, coaching, and working with children of all ages.
